Kieran McCarthy gives a very insightful look into some very important elements of social and military history of Australians in France. This is by no means a dry anecdote of military history but a thoroughly well researched talk which captures his passion for the personal side of the Australian Military men and women who fought at the fronts in France and Belgium.
His experiences have led him to the conviction that women are the true custodians of memory and the key drivers of the surge in interest in the Australian experience of the Great War in France and Belgium.
Kieran McCarthy is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law and managing partner of Naughton McCarthy Family Lawyers. Outside the law, his particular interest is in Australian military history and all things Gallic. Since 2009, this has lead to Kieran and his wife, corporate adviser Kristin Devitt, undertake regular pilgrimages to France and Belgium along the old front lines of the First World War.
